Carers of Dundee will host a showcase event takeover at The Overgate Shopping Centre over three days from Wednesday 15 – 17 March.
Young Carers Action Day is a national event which raises awareness of young carers and the incredible contribution young carers make to their families and their local communities.
This year we would like to take this theme ‘Making Time for Young Carers’ and focus on highlighting Dundee as a City where its young carers are identified and celebrated and where the experiences and contributions of our young carers are known, understood, and valued.
Dundee has continued to increase the number of young carers identified and supported, particularly in primary schools. This has led to an increase in early intervention work with young carers and their families.
20+ organisations and community groups will come together to showcase their interpretations of “A Day in the life of a young carer”
Sarah Boath, Team Manager, Carers Support Services said:
“We are thrilled to be hosting this three-day event at The Overgate shopping Centre, a national event that deserves to by showcased in this way. We look forward to seeing everyone’s showcase material and the contribution that all young carers have made to help raise awareness, help identify and provide support to other young carers”
Malcolm Angus, Centre Manager, Overgate said:
“Carers of Dundee is a wonderful online community for carers and Overgate is pleased to be welcoming its stakeholders to GATHER for this event as part of national Young Carers Action Day.
“The event is free and open to all, and across the three days there will be access to a suite of useful resources, events, courses and activities to support those in a caring role, as well as first-hand experiences from a number of young carers from Dundee. We would encourage anyone with a caring interest or responsibility to visit GATHER as well as the many stalls across the centre.”
- Event starts at 10am.
