This Carers Week, we’re encouraging everyone to build more supportive, inclusive communities for unpaid carers.
Carers make an incredible difference every day, often balancing caring roles alongside work, education and family life. Yet too often, they can feel invisible or struggle to access the support they need. That’s why this year’s theme focuses on building carer friendly communities— where carers are recognised, understood and supported wherever they are.
A New Blueprint from the Carers Week Team

To support this work, the Carers Week team have developed Building Carer Friendly Communities: A Blueprint.
This new report outlines a vision for communities where unpaid carers are fully recognised and supported in all aspects of daily life. Including:
- Practical guidance for taking action
- Key principles to help organisations become more carer-friendly
- Examples of good practice to inspire change
The blueprint is designed for everyone—employers, schools, health and social care providers, businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups—offering simple, meaningful steps that can make a real difference.
